Obituary for Cecil H. Zavala
Cecil H. Zavala of Rocky Ford, CO, entered into rest, February 17, 2018 at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice House in Pueblo, CO. He was born to Conrad and Marcelina Zavala on November 21, 1921. He was 96 years of age.
Cecil is survived by his children, Rebecca (Robert) Smith of Denver, CO, Conrad (Shirley) Zavala of Syracuse, NY, CeCe Zavala of Rocky Ford, CO, Sally Zavala of Denver, CO, Albert (Kay Ann) Zavala of MN, Emily (Albert Hogue) Bautista-Zavala, Monument, CO. grandchildren; Maury Barela, Anthony (Amanda) Barela, Carmen Nicole Elliston, Chris (Brenda) Zavala, Michael Zavala, Tracy (Charles) Vivacqua, Boz Zavala, Candi (Eric) Dinkins, Boz Bargas, Amburli McCoy, Zach (Hanan) Zavala, Allie (Bobby) Lauritson and 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Marcelina Zavala, wife, Carmen Zavala and 5 siblings.
Cecil served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He owned his own shoe store in Rocky Ford for over 60 years. He served on various committees and boards throughout his years in Rocky Ford. He taught Spanish through BOCES. Cecil had a deep love for his faith, family and country, he never compromised his beliefs. He enjoyed working in his yard, he had a beautiful garden. He also enjoyed music and he was very creative. He was known to his family as “Papo”.
A private family service will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home
