Obituary for Doris Ann Ball
Doris Ann Ball of Fowler, Colorado, entered into rest March 7, 2018 at her home, after a brief and brave battle with cancer.
She was born, October 14, 1945 in Denver, Colorado, to Glenn and Freda Allen. She was 72 years of age.
She is preceded in death by, parents, Glenn and Freda Allen, husband Curtis R. Ball, brother, Jim Allen, brother in-laws (Mack) McClain, (Paul) Miller, Everett Ball, sister in-law Elvira Ball and an infant brother and sister.
She is survived by her children; Brenda (Mike) Price of Ulysses, Kansas, Trudy (Bryon) Hardy of Fowler, Colorado and Becky Ball of Fowler, Colorado, Grandchildren, Hannah, Clara, Brittney Price of Ulysses, Kansas, Michael Baeza, stationed in Japan, Morgan Price of La Junta, Colorado, Lane Hardy and Rachel Goodman of Portland, Oregon, Justin and Colton Hardy of Fowler, Colorado, great grandchildren, Kinzey Grace Price of Ulysses, Kansas, and her best friend Snort her little dog. Siblings, Joy McClain of Fowler, Colorado and Peggy Miller of Longmont, Colorado, Marlene Allen of Longmont, Colorado, Margo (Larry) Allen of Longmont, Colorado, George (Nancy) Allen of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Glenn (Beth) Allen of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dan (Elise) Allen of Richmond, Virginia, Patrick (Susan) Allen of Centennial, Colorado, sister-in-Law, Wanda (Virgil) Lessenden of Arlington, Colorado, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She married Curtis R. Ball October 3, 1964 in Fowler, Colorado.
Doris loved being a sister, wife, mother and most of all a grandmother. She considered it her most important job. They lived and worked on several ranches in the Ellicott area, for more than 16 years, before moving back to Fowler in 1980. She was an avid baker and loved to cook. Doris was well known for her delicious cooking. She was a devout woman of God who lived her faith. She was a 4-H leader and livestock judging coach. She loved her chickens, gardening and enjoyed traveling which usually involved kids and livestock shows.
Doris and Curtis loved to help people especially their many "adopted kids and grandkids" which included numerous 4-H and FFA members, neighbors and friends. She was a rural mail carrier in Rocky Ford for 30 years and loved her many "people" on her route. She was a 1963 Graduate of Fowler High School where she was proud to participate in drama club. She loved riding horses and writing. She always wanted to be a writer.
Doris had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh but most of all she left a wonderful legacy of faith and love that will comfort those she leaves behind.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Fowler Jr. High Gymnasium at 3:00 P.M.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home of La Junta.
