Obituary for Arthur E. Vigil
Arthur E. Vigil, of Walsenburg, CO, entered into rest December 31, 2015 at the Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center. He was born to Gil and Eva Vigil, February 6, 1929 in Walsenburg, CO, he was 86 years of age. Art is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Vigil of Walsenburg, CO, daughter, Phyllis Arrington of Littleton, CO, grandchildren, Vanessa Vigil of Walsenburg, CO, Kenneth Arrington of Littleton, CO, great-grandson's, Alec and Eric Vigil of Walsenburg, CO, son-in-law, Nick Vigil of Walsenburg, CO, sister, Genny Atencio of Denver, CO, numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gil and Eva Vigil, daughter, Viola Vigil, son-in-law Michael Arrington, numerous brothers and sisters. Art graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1947. He was the assistant football coach from 1958 to 1968 and the head basketball coach from 1964 to 1968. He was also a city councilman from 1967 to 1972, police commission 1966 to 1972, the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus from 1969 to 1971. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Hospital and on the Huerfano County School Board. Art enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting, he also loved spending time with his family. Family was first and foremost to him. He took care of everybody and he especially loved his grandchildren. He will live Through our memories, Art will forever be alive in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.


A visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M, Thursday, January 7, 2016. A Rosary will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 8, 2016 follow by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. All services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walsenburg.
