Obituary for "Benji"
Benjamin Gonzales of Rocky Ford, Colorado, entered into rest October 13, 2021 at
the Arkansas Valley Medical Center in La Junta, Colorado.
He was born March 1, 1934 to Lecaudia and Antonio Gonzales. He was 87 years
of age.
“Benjie” is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Elizabeth Gonzales, daughters
Lorraine (Zach) Whitehill, Sandra (Marvin) London, Vickie (Karl Gerringer) Trujillo,
Patsy (Don) Contreras, sons Carlos (Sandi) Gonzales, Mike (Jane) Gonzales, son inlaw Ron Miner, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and sister Carrie
(Adrian) DeWald.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lecaudia and Antonio Gonzales,
daughter Helen Miner, brothers and sisters.
Benjie retired from the Colorado Division of Wildlife after 28 years. He enjoyed
gambling and watching sports. His favorite teams were the Denver Broncos and
the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was a tank driver in the Army National Guard. He
played and coached softball. He enjoyed going for drives, scratching lottery
tickets, fishing, cleaning his scrap copper, telling his life stories and spending time
with his family.
He will be missed by all those who knew him.
A 9:30 A.M. Rosary followed by a Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday,
October 27, 2021 at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Johnson-Romero Funeral
Home.
