Obituary for Cheryl Ann Gaskill
Cheryl Ann Gaskill, of Ordway, Colorado, entered into rest, March 25, 2017 at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta, Colorado. She was born to Lavern and Johnnie Day, April 29, 1959 in Dallas, Texas. She was 57 years of age.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 38 years, Larry Gaskill of Ordway, Colorado, daughter, Tiffany Nelson of Rocky Ford, Colorado, David (Teresa Jessie) Gaskill of Swink, Colorado, Stephanie (Chris) Christensen of Shallowater, Texas, sisters, Debbie (Butch) Baker of Bonham, Texas, Eloise (Richard) Oliver of Irving, Texas, brother, Orval (Tammy) Horn of Canon City, Colorado, David (Lisa) Spindle of Bonham, Texas, Butch (Carolyn) Day of Rowlett, Texas, sister-in-law, Verda (Gene) Dent of Hotchkiss, Colorado, grandchildren, Amber (Joe) Kucera, Ashley (Gary) Cultrell, Ayslin (Zane) Grinstead, Andie Nelson, Allison (Brian) Navarrete, Andrea Crafton, Andrew Crafton, Cadence Gaskill, Dustin Gaskill, Brittany (Michael) Elmore, Kaitlyn (Robby) Hasty, Heather Taylor, Josh Gaskill, Nathan Gaskill, Madalyne Christensen, Malachi, Cyrus, Jericho, Killian, 13 great-grandchildren, best friends, Robin Garreltz and Shirley Steinbeck. She host of aunts, uncles, nieces and friends.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Lavern and Johnnie Day and son in-law Tony Nelson.
Cheryl worked at the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility in administration for 20 years. She was instrumental in starting the Relay for Life in the prison. She was also active in the inmate chorus group and special events. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding ATVs in the mountains with her husband. Cheryl loved to dance and to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and she was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan.
A visitation will be held, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Johnson-Romero Funeral Home in La Junta.
A Funeral Service will be held at the River of Life Church in Ordway on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. followed by a committal at the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford. Pastor Jeb Brown will be officiating.
