Obituary for David Slaughter

David Slaughter of La Junta, Colorado, was known by many names. He was also know as Dave, David, Malakar, Deforest, Mordos, Wolfe, Sarge, and many more. On September 12, 2022, he passed away at the Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado. At the time of his passing, he was 57 years old.

He was born on March 8th, 1965, to Delores Sawaya and Donald Slaughter. David is survived by his wife, Donita Slaughter; their 3 children Lori and her spouse, Brandon and his spouse Melissa, and Katrina and her spouse Cope; 1 grandson from Lori and her spouse; as well as a second grandson, Beau, from Katrina and Cope; his 2 brothers Donald “Don” Slaughter and Eric Eichman; his mother Delores Sawaya, and many cousins.

David was known for his witty humor and his playful banter. He had a habit of being sarcastic, but David also just told you how things were. For those who knew him, we honor the life he lived and try to find a way to smile, despite our heavy hearts. It is what he would have wanted.

David was a husband and best friend to his wife of 34 years, Donita Slaughter. He was a father to their 3 children Lori, Brandon, and Katrina. At the same time he was a brother to Don and Eric. Many people treated David as a member of their family. To some he was a father and to others he was seen as a brother. David was able role model and a good guy. He did his best to live his life by what he preached.

A service is being held by his family in accordance with his wishes. It will be held on September 24th, 2022, at the Hampton Inn Hotel in La Junta, Colorado, at 3 pm mountain time. If you wish to drink at the service, you are asked to bring your own alcohol. Donations to his service and to the family can be made at: https://gofund.me/f2e4a2c4

Please reach out to his wife or Lori if you’d like to do so or if you have any questions.
