Obituary for Della Montoya
Della Montoya of Rocky Ford, Colorado, entered into rest, Monday, March 13, 2017 in La Junta, Colorado. Della was born January 24, 1935 in Trinidad, Colorado, to Antonio and Raquel Sanchez. She was 82 years of age. Della married Gilbert Rodriguez and together had four children, Ronald, Kenneth, Cathy and Robert. They later divorced and she married Carmel Montoya. Della was a homemaker and before she got ill she was a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout leader. She was also a member of the Mariachi Choir for many years. She enjoyed shopping, going to Cripple Creek and spending time with her family. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan. She is survived by her ex-husband, Gilbert Rodriguez, Sister Stella Gonzalez of Denver, Colorado. Children, Ronald G. Rodriguez of Pueblo, Colorado, Kenneth (Sally) Rodriguez, Cathy (Larry) Dearcos and Robert (Lorraine) Rodriguez all of Rocky Ford. She had 15 grandchildren Rebecca, Roberta, Sarah, Juanita, Victoria, Veronika, Gilbert, Vanessa, Josh H., Maria, Carlos, Michelle, Stephanie, Sonya, and Joshua D., Thirty great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Azlea, Victor Jr, Sarai, Estevan, Juan Jr., Mariposa, Favianna, Omar, Solar, Michael, Myla, Julian, Marley Rae, Gabriella, Liliana, Emi, Joaquin, Mariella, Anthony, Aemiliana, Raquel, Alexandrea, Isabella, Gracie, Feliciti and Juan Diego. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Carmel Montoya, five sisters; Celia, Juanita, Elalia, Annie and Selena, five brothers Bonnie, Tony, Sammy, Joe and Refugio.
A visitation will be held, Thursday, March 16th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Johnson-Romero Funeral Home in La Junta. A rosary will be held, Friday, March 17th at 10:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado father Paul Ekeh will be officiating.
