Obituary for Donald E. Cotton
Donald E. Cotton of Rocky Ford, CO, entered into rest December 14, 2015 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, CO. He was born May 29, 1932 in Pagosa Springs, CO, to Grace and Fred Cotton. He was 83 years of age. Donald is survived by his wife of 49 Years, Ellinore Cotton of Rocky Ford, CO, daughters, Elizabeth Roberts of La Junta, CO, Judy Padilla of Rocky Ford, CO, brother, Roy Cotton of Grand Junction, CO, sister, Freda Ward of Grand Junction, CO, special friend Garland Mayberry of Rocky Ford, CO, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, He is preceded in death by his son, Frank David Cotton, parents, Fred and Grace Cotton, step-mother, Yerda Cotton. Mr. Cotton served his country in the United States Army. He started his career in the army Reserves. He graduated from Grand Junction High School, shortly after that, in 1953, he was drafted into the army and served until he retired. He served three tours in Korea and one in Vietnam. He was a gunner with C-company of the Third Infantry Regiment. Donald received a letter and medal from President Kim Dae Young of South Korea for honoring his fight and service for South Korea's democracy. He enjoyed watching TV especially game shows. Donald also loved his cats, enjoyed fishing and he was very proud of his military service. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Rocky Ford, Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Rick Miller. Full honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnson-Romero Funeral Home.
