Obituary for Janet Ross Mays
Janet Mays entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning Oct 16th at Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway, Co. Janet was born June 22, 1934 in Lansing, Michigan to Bill and Blanche Ross. She was 85 years of age. They moved to Piqua, Ohio when she was four years old. She would spend most of her life in Ohio and Colorado. She began working at eleven years old for her dad at the Springs Supper Club in Piqua, Ohio. She had various jobs in her lifetime but mostly worked as a waitress and as a salesperson for mobile homes. She raised four sons and one daughter as a single mom with the help of her parents. In her early years she loved to cook, crochet and plant flowers especially morning glories. Later she learned to paint which she was very proud of. She also had a very deep love for animals. She had taken many into her home especially cats. Her greatest accomplishment was when she made the Lord Jesus Christ her Savior. She spent numerous hours studying His word and being in prayer. Janet was never shy about sharing her faith and as a result of her sharing many came to know the Lord. She is survived by her brother Bill Ross (Joan) of Memphis TN, Her sons Mike Taylor (Karla) of Oklahoma City, OK, Brett Taylor (Teresa) of Stillwater, OK, Mark Anderson (Tina) of College Station, TX, Her daughter Missy Sanchez (Dave) of Penrose, CO, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Her nephews Bryan Ross and Brad Ross and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Blanche Ross, half-sister Lillian Ross and her firstborn son Patrick Ray Taylor Jr. She fought a good fight and now is out of pain and is at peace.
A Cremation will take place through Johnson-Romero Funeral Home in La Junta, CO. Janet will be buried in Piqua, OH alongside her parents. An informal memorial service will be held for Janet at Crowley County Nursing Center in the Chapel on Nov. 9, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. given by Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care.
