Obituary for Joe Marquez
Joe Marquez, peacefully entered into rest at his home, September 3, 2021.
He was born to Beatrice and Daniel Marquez, December 17, 1926, in La Jara,
CO.
Joe is survived by Faye, his wife of 72 years. Daughters, Eileen (Lloyd)
Nielson of Littleton, CO, Rose Anne Johnson of Pueblo, CO, Donna (Paul)
Coates of Kamuela, Hawaii, son Joey (Karen) Marquez of Pueblo, CO, grand
children Jennifer (Stephen) Gillespie of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Katy Johnson,
of Pueblo, CO, Daniel Coates of Potter Valley, California, Emily (Eric)
Christensen of Oahu, Hawaii, Ryan (Lauren) Coates of Oakland, California,
Jessica Cochran of CO Springs, CO, Caroline Coates of Denver, Joseph
Marquez of Pueblo, great grandchildren Sophia, Joe, and Jimmy Howes,
Tristan Omoletski, and Eloise Christensen, his sisters, Mary DeHerrera of
Kingman, Arizona and Priscilla (Joe) Mestas of Canon City, CO.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Daniel Marquez,
brother Tony Marquez, and sisters Philomena, Dora, Lucille, Nellie, and
Rosella.
Joe served in the United States Navy during WWII. He enjoyed hunting,
fishing, snowmobiling, and boating and telling tall tales. Joe was a Snowbird,
and he and Faye traveled to Arizona and Mexico for many years. Joe was a
wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and a great friend to many. He was
the “saint” in the marriage. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew
him and loved him.
A 10:30 a.m. rosary will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 followed by
an 11:00 a.m. funeral mass at Holy Family Parish, 2827 Lakeview Avenue
Pueblo, CO.
Burial and military honors will be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in
Colorado Springs at 2:00 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home.
