John A. Olguin Jr., beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at the Pioneer Health Care Nursing Home in Rocky Ford, Colorado, at the remarkable age of 94. He was born on December 24, 1930, to Romona and John Olguin, Sr., Kersey, Colorado.
John grew up surrounded by a large and loving family in Colorado. He is survived by his siblings Marianne Olguin of Oakland, California, Julie (Anthony) Molina, of Fresno, California, Eddie Olguin, of Denver, Colorado, and Phyllis Sandoval, of Oakland, California, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished his warmth and generosity.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Helen Moore, Josephina Arrizon, Cecelia Cole, Marcie Richardson, Eleanore Olguin, and Evelyn Olguin; and brothers Manuel Olguin and Eugene Olguin.
Growing up in a family of 16 siblings, John took on a caring role, helping to look after his brothers and sisters and forming deep, lasting connections within his family.
John was known for his love of music, his appreciation for movies—especially comedies—and his forward-thinking approach to health, embracing good nutrition and regular exercise long before it became a trend. He was a beacon of positivity, kindness, and generosity, remembered fondly by all children who crossed his path and by everyone who knew him. His sense of humor and joyful spirit brought laughter and happiness to those around him.
John’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering support for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he graced over the years. The memory of his gentle soul and infectious smile will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
