Obituary for Jose Benito Lopez
Our beloved father Jose Benito Lopez, a longtime resident of Manzanola passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020. His children were by his side when he ascended home to be with the lord. Jose was born in Mora, New Mexico on July 19, 1933 to Enriquez Lopez and Victoria (Maria) Pacheco.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Enriquez and Victoria (Maria) Lopez, his wife, Jennie (Juanita) Lopez, son, Tommy Lopez, brother, Henry Lopez, sisters, Louisa Vigil, Suzanna Espinoza, Flora Gallegos, Lydia Vigil, and Emilia Gonzales. Jose is survived by his sister, Shirley Gonzales, sons, Lenny (Karen) Lopez, Jaybee (Olivia) Lopez, daughters, Margie (Alfred) Monnet, Benita (Felix) Baca, Janet (Tommy) Lucero, Maria (Albert) Cruz and Brenda (Leonard) Meyer, 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Jose enjoyed working and sitting outside in his yard listening to ranchera music and being with his family.
Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home in La Junta has been entrusted with the arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Fowler Cemetery. After the service, family and close friends are welcome to attend a reception held at, 405 N Park, Manzanola. Due to COVID-19 CDC regulations, attendance will be monitored to 100 people.
