Jose Luis Camacho of La Junta, Colorado entered rest September 9, 2024, He was born in San Juanito, Mexico to Cayetano and Pomposa Camacho November 12, 1946. He was 77 years of age.
He was diagnosed with prostate cancer 20 years ago and was never mentally phased with that cancer battle until 2024 when it spread to his bones where he faced the most courageous challenge he’d ever face and not be able to conquer. He never feared it and took it head on until his very last breath on September 9th, 2024, at 9:50pm surrounded by his most loved ones.
He is survived by his children, Luis Camacho of El Paso, Texas, Paty (Gilbert) Soltero of Jefferson, Georga, Norma Camacho of La Junta, Colorado, of Maria (Luke) Long of Shortline, West Virgina, grandchildren Lee Camacho, Devin Camacho, Kaylee Soltero, Jasmin Gonzales, Brandon Camacho, Koby Camacho, Khloee Soltero, Demi Long, Nico Camacho, Rio Gonzales, Pierce Long and one great grandchild, Ana Veya Soltero, Brother Manuel Camacho, of Garden City Kansas, Yolanda Camacho of Mexico, Miguel Camacho of Rocky Ford, Carlos Camacho of Mexico Norma Camacho of Mexico, several nieces and nephews, special nephew Adrian Rascón and Jose’s ex-wife and forever friend, Maria Camacho and many special friends.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents Cayetano and Pomposa Camacho, sister and Guadalupe Camacho.
Jose was an amazing man of courage, strength, intelligence, and resilience. He was a man of his word. He loved tending to his farm animals and especially his horses who held a special place in his heart being he was a horse jockey in his younger years. Jose enjoyed watching boxing and also betting his friends on boxing and horse races. He loved to read and was a man of facts, don’t challenge him if you don’t expect to lose. He was man of humor that could entertain his friends for hours on end. A man of respect and integrity that left a huge impact on everyone he met. A man who his children and grandchildren adored and who he lived and breathed for. Jose was blessed to be able to meet his first great-grandchild. He was the biggest supporter anyone could ask for and you could call him any time if you needed him. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed. Arrangements have been made entrusted to the loving care of the Johnson-Romeo Family Funeral Home.
