Martina "Martha" Lopez of Crowley, Colorado entered into rest, February 28, 2017 at St. Mary Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado. She was born to Madalena and Juan Lucero, June 4, 1942 in Roy, New Mexico. She was 74 years of age. Martha is survived by her children; Christina (Alfonso) Martinez of Castle Pines, Colorado, Mario Lopez of Crowley, Colorado, Ernestina( Gregory) Montoya of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kathy (Tim Stouffer) Cunningham of Crowley, Colorado, grandchildren; Nathan (Julie) Martinez of Centennial, Colorado, William Lopez of Denver, Colorado, Emanuel Montoya of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jacob Montoya of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Toni Montoya, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kurtis Cunningham of Olney Springs, Colorado, Louis Cunningham of Ordway, Colorado, Jessica (Chris) Workman of West Virginia, Michelle Cunningham of Olney Springs, Colorado. Great grandchildren; Ava and Roman Martinez, Aubrielle Mayo, Sarayah Cunningham, Evalie and Briar Cunningham, brothers, Eloy (Glenda) Arguello of Florence, Colorado, Leo Lucero of Pueblo, Colorado, Irene (Mike) Brewer of Rocky Ford, Colorado and Carmen (Danny) Ramirez of Rocky Ford, Colorado, Annie (Mario) Grajeda of Crowley, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Madalena Lucero, husband Seferino Lopez, brothers, Tino Lucero, Robert Arguello, Steve Lucero, Leo Arguello, Sam Arguello. Martha enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, embroidering and occasionally watching QVC. She loved jewelry and watching the squirrels and birds eating from the bird feeders in her backyard. Martha was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church. During her working years she enjoyed helping the children of the migrant farm workers.
A viewing will be held Monday, March 6, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Johnson-Romero Funeral Home in La Junta. A Rosary will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford. Father Paul Ekeh will be officiating.
