Obituary for Mary L. Poitier
Mary L. Poitier of La Junta, Colorado and formerly of Florida, entered into rest, March 26, 2024, peacefully in her home. She was born to Dan Parrish and Willie Brown, May 15, 1950, in Savannah, Georgia. Mary was 73 years of age. She is survived by her children, Antoinette (Samuel) Glymp, of Pueblo, Colorado, Patricia Bell of Tampa, Florida, Suzette (Harry) Simmons of Port Richey, Florida, Joseph Poitier, III, and friend Dawn Baldwin, Goddaughter, Mary Nelson, brother, Dan Parrish, Jr. of Miami, Florida, sister, Arizona Denise Parrish of Port Richey, Florida, first cousin, Ester Kelly of Georgia, a plethora of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her Husband, Joseph Poitier, Jr., sister, Georgia Parrish, and grandmother, Clara Kelly.
Mary enjoyed basketball, track, running, cooking, making meals for her family, plants, gardening and animals. Mary especially enjoyed being with her family. She was a loving mother to her four beautiful children. She was a special grandmother, and the best mother and grandmother they could have ever had. Mary was the most loving person in the world. A Life Celebration for Mary will be held at 5:00 P.M. Friday April 19, 2024 in her home at 27822 Homestead Loop in La Junta, Colorado.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home.
