Obituary for Mauro Hernandez
Mauro Hernandez of La Junta, Colorado, entered into rest, Wednesday, January 9, 2019, in Pueblo, Colorado.
Hernandez was born to Miguel and Julia Hernandez, February 23, 1960 in Santa Maria del Oro, Durango, Mexico. He was 58 years of age. He married Elizabeth Ashida in 1984. They were married for 35 years and shared 4 children (three sons and one daughter).
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Hernandez of Pueblo, Colorado. Children, John Pettie of Pueblo, Colorado, Bradley Pettie of Rocky Ford, Colorado, Joseph Lorenzo of Pueblo, Colorado, Jessica Hernandez of La Junta, Colorado. Siblings Maria D. Jurado of El Paso, Texas, Jose Domingo Hernandez of Juarez, Mexico, Maria Trinidad Hernandez of Juarez, Mexico, Maria de Jesus Holden of El Paso, Texas, grandchildren, Alaina, Kyla, Vincent, Jaicianna, Demetrius, Demarius, and Drasen Pettie, Jacob, and Talina Lorenzo, George and Julianna Vasquez and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Julia Hernandez, brother Raul Hernandez.
Hernandez was always smiling. He enjoyed helping others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed scratch tickets, working with his hands. He was well known as a MacGyver type. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were the most important part of his life. He also enjoyed watching his favorite shows, Lip Sync Battles, Impractical Jokers, boxing and MMA fights and anything that would make you laugh. He loved playing with old school gadgets as well as games on his cell phone and his favorite pastime was fishing. He worked at the “Pickle Plant” for over 24 years before retiring.
A Rosary will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe St. Patrick's Catholic Church in La Junta, Colorado.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home.
