As a boy, Mike loved to run, fight, and box. As a young man, after a long day of work, Mike loved to go night hunting, with his rifle and sharpened pocket knife at his hip, for coon and deer. He told many stories of outrunning the game warden in Mason and Menard, Texas with a deer hanging over his shoulders. He loved deer hunting and butchering, especially in his younger days, where he was the head butcher at Mason Ice and Storage. He had a passion for building and driving race cars throughout his life. He enjoyed racing with his wife Pam and brother Sammy. Mike enjoyed the mountains of Colorado, where he most recently lived, especially the Cuchara and San Isabel areas. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson. He was known by his loved ones, as Popo. His wife, Pamela was his life. They met in 1971 in Mason, Texas, where Mike worked as a butcher. They later married in 1973 and began their life together, raising 4 children and caring for 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. They spent every night together and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April of 2021. Mike worked every day of his life, since he was 8 years old, and always worked to provide for his family. He was a caring, giving, compassionate man who would do anything to help someone in need. He is and always will be deeply respected and missed. You were the absolute best and we will Love you to the end of our days, Popo!
