Rosie G. Avila of Rocky Ford, CO, entered into rest March 27, 2016, at the Arkansas Valley Nursing Center
in La Junta, CO. She was born Feb. 7, 1931, to Flora
and Abelino Gauna. She was 85 years of age.
Rosie is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Gilbert) Perez
of Rocky Ford, CO; grandchildren, Desiree (Michael Montano) Avila of Rocky Ford, CO, Dominic Avila, Danisha Perez, Delicia Perez; great-grandchildren, Adrian Avila, Aliynah Avila, Annaleigha Avila and Aiden Avila; brothers, Leroy Gauna of Michigan; sister-in-law, Anabel Gauna of Pueblo; sisters, Lily Chavez of Rocky Ford, CO, Jane (Pete) Martinez of Rocky Ford, Betty (Benny) Torres of Rocky Ford; sister-in-law’s Janeria Gauna of Rocky Ford, CO, Stella Gauna of Rocky Ford; numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Andrew Muniz, Kristopher Galicia, Duane Reece and Charles Stewart, whom she loved as her own family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abelino and Flora Gauna; husband, Aurelio Avila; brothers, Albert Gauna, Raymond Gauna, Johnny Gauna; sister, Annie Vigil; brothers-in-law, Louie Vigil, Fidel Chavez; sister-in-law, Della Gauna. She loved to read her Bible and watch Joel Osteen. She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and her family.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday March 31, 2016, at the First Christian Church of Rocky Ford, 400 S. Ninth St., Rocky Ford, CO 81067. Pastor John Dell will be officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnson-Romero Funeral Home.
