Obituary for Ruth Francis "Tillie" Mascarenas
Ruth Frances "Tillie" Mascarenas of La Junta, Colorado. She passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2021. She was born on June 4, 1934 in Trinchera, Colorado to Fidel and Eustacia (Cruz) Madrid. Ruth was 86 years of age. She married Rudy Mascarenas on April 29, 1950.
She is survived by her children, James Mascarenas, Dolores Mascarenas, Thomas (Ginger) Mascarenas, Lorri (Tom) Martinez, Cynthia (Robert) Martinez, and Matthew (Kenny) Mascarenas all of La Junta, CO. Grandchildren: Quentin (Shelby) Mascarenas, Cassandra (Gil) Apodaca, Michael Lasley, Tyler Lasley, Joseph (Anita) Roybal, Anson Roybal, Christopher Mascarenas, Trenton (Belle) Mascarenas, T.J. (Cyndi) Martinez, Jonathan (Taci) Martinez, Dominic Martinez, Elizabeth Mascarenas, Alexandria Mascarenas, Achilles Mascarenas, and Sabastian Mascarenas. Great-grandchildren: Hayden Rudy Mascarenas IV, Makayla (Chris) Burrows, Lexus Lasley, Kayla Lasley, Taunisha Lasley, Myame Lasley, Karin Lasley, A.J. Roybal, Isabelle Roybal, Cain Mascarenas, Dean Mascarenas, Tommy Martinez, Olivia Martinez, Hunter Issacs, Jordan Martinez, and Sawyer Martinez. Great-great-grandchild: Brayden Burrows. She is also survived by brothers, George Madrid, JR (Beatrice) Madrid, Sonny (Flora) Madrid and sister, Flora Romero.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Mascarenas , parents, sons Rudy Mascarenas Jr. and Lorenzo (Rocco) Mascarenas and her grandson Jarin Lasley. She was also preceded in death by numerous family members including several brothers and sisters.
She retired in 2007 from East Otero School District with over 25 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a devout Catholic and her faith sustained her throughout her life. She served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister to nursing home residents and the homebound. She enjoyed watching her daily mass on EWTN, the New York Yankees, the Denver Broncos, and Notre Dame football.
