Obituary for Santana "Eva" Vigil
Santana Eva Vigil of Walsenburg, Colorado peacefully entered into rest on April 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving children.

She was born in North Veta, Colorado, June 10, 1943 to Reynaldo and Naborsita Vigil. She was 77 years old.

Eva is survived by her children; Richard Vigil of Walsenburg, Colorado, Gary (Rebecca Roller) Vigil Sr., of Walsenburg, Colorado, Donna Ramirez of Walsenburg, Colorado, Robert (Rhonda) Vigil of Garden City, Kansas, daughter-in-law Ellen Vigil of Walsenburg, Colorado, and two stepdaughters, Virginia (Lawrence) Imprescia of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Dorothy (Ignacio Rivera) Vigil of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is a beloved Grandmother and survived by her 16 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by her brother, Leroy Vigil and sisters, Elizabeth (Henry) Prien and Ernestine (Andy) Martinez.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Vigil, her parents, Reynaldo and Naborsita Vigil, and her brother, Donald Vigil.

Eva was born and raised on the family ranch in North Veta, Colorado. She obtained her elementary thru high school education in Walsenburg, Colorado, where she graduated high school in 1961. Eva married Bernie Vigil in 1962. She began to work side-by-side with him in the church and in raising a family. She had such a drive and determination to succeed and better herself that she made her education a priority as she did her walk with God and her family. Eva obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Primary Education from Adams State College in 1978, a Master of Arts Degree in Special Education from Adams State college in 1982, a Master of Arts Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Adams State College in 1983, and continued her education by earning her Bachelor Degree in Theology in 2016 from the International Apostolic Bible College.

Eva’s hard work and education became a blessing to all she came in contact with as she contributed her talents and skills to the Huerfano School District and community by serving as an elementary school teacher specializing in Special Education. She was a teacher for a total of 33 years. After retirement she served her community by being a Huerfano School District Board of Education member for 4 years. Besides her community contributions, Eva was a Pastor’s wife, Sunday School Teacher, President of the Apostolic Assembly’s Dorcas Women’s Auxiliary, Treasurer of the Auxiliary, as well as many other positions and duties in the Apostolic Assembly. After retirement, Eva loved traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her family, church, community and all those that knew her.

Services for Eva will be held at Emmanuel Apostolic Temple, 211 W. Second Street, Walsenburg, Colorado on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 7:00 PM and Friday, April 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Interment at North Veta Cemetery directly after the service.
