Obituary for Steven Paul Florez Sr.
Steven Paul Florez, Sr. of Northglenn, Colorado, and former resident of Rocky Ford, Colorado, peacefully entered into rest august, 22, 2022 surrounded by his loving family in Denver, Colorado.
He was born, November 28, 1961 in Rocky Ford, Colorado, to Florence and Daniel Florez. He was 60 years of age.
Steven is survived by his Loving Wife of 42 years, Sarah (Baros) Florez, Married on August 30, 1980, his children, Steven Florez, Jr. of Northglenn, Annette (Jose Jaramillo) Florez of Colorado Springs, Matthew Florez (Wife, Charlotte) of Cary, NC, Melanie (Dell Warfield) Florez of Northglenn. His Grandkids, Steven Florez, III, Elias Florez, Santonio Jaramillo, Gabriel Florez, Heavenly Sepeda, Esperanza Sepeda. He is also survived by his siblings, Daniel Arthur Florez (Wife, Betty), Edward Florez (Wife, Beatrice), Elsie Maes (Husband, Bobby), Lenore Lucero, Rosalie Florez, Ron Florez (Wife, Rose), Herman Florez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
Steven was preceded in death by his parents; Sister, Lydia Medina (Husband, Rudolph), Brother-in-law Juan "Tino" Lucero, Brother-in-law Gabino Villanueva, III, Niece, Giselle Jaramillo.
Steven Florez attended Rocky Ford High School graduated 1980, Attended Front Range Community college where he earned an Associates Degree of Science.
Steven was a Cold War Veteran, he worked at Rocky Flats for over 24 years in production, closure and cleanup operations. After the plant closed Steven became an entrepreneur with opening Hot Shotz Wings and Grille, as well as Apollo Snacks.
Steven was the pillar of the community as a Cub Master as well as involved with youth sports, coaching, sponsoring as well as running concessions.
Stevens was an avid outdoorsman who loved taking landscape photographs, as well as Fishing. He was known for out-fishing everyone, especially while asleep. He loved to travel, loved spending time with family and his beloved dog Toto Florez, whom he loved taking on walks and adventures. Steven was known as a people person with a great sense of humor and had a nickname for everyone he met who would instantly become a friend. Steven never hesitated to help anyone.
Viewing at 10:00 A.M on Monday, August 29, 2022 In the sanctuary of Rocky Ford First Christian Church. A Funeral Service celebrating Stevens' life will follow the Viewing. John Dell will be officiating.
A Grave Site Ceremony will be held at Rocky Ford Cemetery following Funeral Service.
Family will greet friends following the Grave Site Ceremony at the St. Peter’s Parish Hall.
