Obituary for Carmen B. Zavala
Carmen B. Zavala of Rocky Ford, Colorado, entered into rest, May 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Fowler Health Care Center in Fowler, Colorado.
She was born to Elias Rodriguez and Maria del Refugio Bautista in Ciudad Manuel Doblado, Gto. Mexico, June 29, 1925, she was 91 years of age.
Carmen is survived by her Husband, Cecil H. Zavala of Rocky Ford, Colorado, children; Bequi (Robert) Smith of Denver, Colorado, Conrad (Jo Anne) Zavala of Northampton, Massachusetts, Cece H. Zavala of Rocky Ford, Colorado, Sally Zavala of Denver, Colorado, Albert (KayAnn) Zavala of Rosemont, Minnesota, and Emily (Albert Hogue) Bautista-Zavala of Monument, Colorado. Grandchildren include, Maury Barela, Anthony (Amanda) Barela, Nicole Elliston, Chris (Brenda) Zavala, Mike Zavala, Tracey (C.J.) Vivacqua, Bozzy Zavala, Candi (Eric) Dinkins, Boz Bargas, Amburli McCoy, Zach (Hanan) Zavala, Allie (Bobby) Lauretson, Twenty two and a half Great grandchildren and sister, Maria del Refugio Rangel.
Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Carmen married Cecil H. Zavala in 1949 and they moved to Rocky Ford in 1956. She was a professional mother and loved to cook, gardening, singing, dancing, and she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic. She prayed the rosary every day for her children.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Father Paul Ekeh will be officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Johnson-Romero Funeral Home.
