Esther Pena of Pueblo, Colorado, went to be with the Lord, April 25, 2018.
She was born January 16, 1924 in Onley Springs, Colorado to the late Inez and Aniceto Muniz. She was 94 years of age.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Angel Pena, her infant son, Margarito, son-in-law, Daniel Ortiz, and her dear friend, Clara Graham.
Esther was surrounded at the time of her passing and loved by her children John (Jesse)Pena, Mary (Carmen) Hernandez, Patricia Pena, Gilbert Pena, Nadine (Daniel) Ortiz, Joseph Pena , Christopher Pena (Chris Wright) , Evelyn (Dallas) Payne , Vivian (Henry) Lopez , Steve (Janet) Pena, and Carol (John) Murphy . Esther is also survived by her siblings, 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a million friends.
Esther enjoyed dancing and sewing. She was a great cook and loved to feed people. She could tell a story that no one else could tell. She could do anything. Esther was a docent for the Rosemont Museum. She was a good mom. She met the pope and she loved to travel, she traveled all over the world. Esther loved having company especially family. She was a member of Guadalupe Club in Ordway and a member of an herb society. She made the best bread in the history of mankind. Esther was loved and will be missed by all those who knew her.
A 10:00 A.M. Rosary will be held Monday, April 30, 2018 followed by a 10:30 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ordway, Colorado. A Committal Service will be held at the Ordway Cemetery following services.
Father Paul Ekeh will be officiating.
The Pena family would like to thank Suncrest Hospice for the excellent care they provided to their Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Suncrest Hospice of Pueblo.
