Obituary for Felisa Leyba
Felisa Leyba, entered into rest October 19, 2014 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, CO. She was born to Estafana and Salvador Guerrero on November 23, 1940 in La Junta, CO. She was 73 years of age. She is survived by her children, Irene (Ruben Garcia) Leyba of La Junta, CO, Patsy (Anselmo) Membreno of La Junta, CO, Ross (Heather Gonzales) Leyba of La Junta, CO, Diana (Francisco) Alcaraz of Fontana, CA and Peggy (James Martinez) Valerio of La Junta. Grandchildren; Jennifer Salazar, Melissa Leyba, Jessica Axtell, Ross Leyba, Jr., Sydn'e Leyba, Richard Barela, Nichole Stoker, Danielle Rivera. Great-grandchildren; Ron Salazar, Anthony Salazar, Alisha Salazar, Alyssa Whatley, Marcus Thompson, Jaiden Axtell, Aiden Axtell, "Baby" Mary Leyba. Liliana Barela, Audriana Barela, Christian Barela, Juliana Barela, Alonah Stoker, Easton Stoker, Liam Rivera, Brothers; Joe (Katy) Guerrero of La Junta, CO Tacho (Soccorro) Guerrero of Denver, CO, Benny (Louise) Guerrero of Denver, CO, Charlie (Linda) Guerrero of Denver, CO. Sisters, Alex Cruz, Vera (Ernest) Whatley of La Junta, CO, Paz (Adolfo) Mondragon of Denver, CO, Andrea (Luis) Salinas of Denver. Felisa is preceded in death by her Husband Ross Leyba, Son, "Baby" Richard Louis Leyba and parents, Salvador and Estafana Guerrero. Felisa and her family owned and operated Leyba's Curios for 15 years before entering the restaurant business which is known as Felisa's Mexican Restaurant that is also family run and has been serving great Mexican food for the last 25 years. She was not only a mother to her children but to all the employees at her restaurant. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved to cook. She is famous for her flour tortillas and her enchiladas. Felisa enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her brothers and sisters. The bond between her and her siblings was very strong. They all have so much respect for each other. She was always there for everyone and ready to lend a helping hand. She loved family vacations and spent a lot of time camping with her family in San Isabel. She loved to go to Arizona to visit her in-laws. She loved the Leyba family as much as her own. It is the love and respect that she has taught her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting and watching her soap operas and novellas, mariachi music and dancing. Her Catholic faith was very strong. She taught the children to keep their faith in God no matter where they lived. She was always the top seller for the catholic bazar raffle tickets. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00P.M at Johnson-Romero Funeral Home. A rosary will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in La Junta. There will be a reception at Felisa's Restaurant following the burial at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnson-Romero Funeral Home.
