Obituary for Ramon M. Ornelas
Ramon M. Ornelas, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away unexpectedly at the Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, CO, July 29, 2015. He was born to Ruperto and Cora Ornelas in El Paso, Texas, April 5, 1933. Ramon was 82 years of age. Ramon is preceded in death and there to welcome him to heaven are his parents, daughter, Rose Marie Quintana and brother, Nick Ornelas. He is survived by his wife Beatrice, sons; Ramon (Arlene) of Westminster, CO, Tony (Kristy) of Denver, CO, Tory (Tashina), Las Vegas, NV, and daughter, Gloria Penrod (John) of Pueblo, CO. Brothers, Seferino, Andrew, Ruperto Jr., Sisters, Mary Louise, Tommy, Cora, Lorenza, Flora, Kay, Ida, Mary & Suzy, 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant. After his service to his country he was a well respected licensed farm labor contractor for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, volunteering, gardening, welding in his workshop and piddling in the garage of his son-in-law, John Penrod, who he loved like a son. His greatest love was his wife, children, family and friends. He will be missed by his local Loaf & Jug coffee drinking buddies but most of all will be missed by his loved ones. A Rosary will be held 10:30 AM Saturday-August 1, 2015 followed by an 11:00 AM Memorial Service at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford. A cremation and a private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home.
